Kalamos is a display typeface with reverse contrast characteristic of traditional Hebrew faces based on the Middle Easter calligraphy which employed qalam, a specially sharpened pen made of reed.
The shape of the characters is inspired by French Renaissance typefaces.
The typeface does not have serifs in the traditional sense as they would not have been possible with such a tilt of the writing instrument.
